Assemblymember Jared Huffman has announced that he will run for Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey's seat if she decides to retire from the U.S. House of Representatives.
Huffman announced his intentions at a Wake Up Petaluma breakfast on Tuesday.
“This certainly isn't a secret. I've been very clear about my intentions,” Huffman said. “She said that she would decide in June whether or not she'll be running, but has encouraged people who are interested in running to get started.
“I'm getting ready to run, but if she decides to run, I'll support her.”
Huffman, who was first elected to the state Assembly in 2006, will be termed out at the end of his current term. He feels that he is a strong candidate for the seat.
