Unionized workers at the Sheraton Petaluma and local labor advocates have planned a rally Thursday evening to advocate for pay raises and a contract that guarantees job security for union workers should the hotel be sold.

About 100 workers with the Local 2850 union first established a contract with hotel management in 2006, but that contract has since expired, and due to disagreements, a new one hasn't been put in place, according to a press release issued by the workers.

“We've been working diligently with the union for a year and a half,” said David Scott, general manager of the Sheraton, who added that the hotel group has “absolutely no intent” to sell the Sheraton. Scott added that he didn't expect the rally to interrupt service. The rally will take place at 745 Baywood Drive at 5 p.m.
