A 2,000-foot train delivering new rails was scheduled to cause delays Tuesday morning in downtown Petaluma, police said.
The train will start moving south through downtown at 8 a.m., starting at the Payran Street crossing, Petaluma Police Sgt. Ken Savano said.
The train then will pass through crossings at Lakeville Street, East Washington Street, East D Street and Caulfield Lane.
Drivers should take alternate routes.
Each intersection “will be closed for an estimated 10 to 15 minutes as the train drops 1,600-foot sections of rail,” Savano said.
Crews will install the rails later.
