Two Petaluma teenagers were arrested during a traffic stop after an officer found about a pound of marijuana in the car, police said.
The 16-year-old boys sped down Rancho Way near La Tercera Elementary School at about 3:48 p.m. Monday, passing an officer in the area, Sgt. Marty Frye said.
The officers pulled the boys over and found the pot, which was distributed in various quantities in small packages marked for sale, Frye said.
The driver, a student at San Antonio High, was arrested on suspicion of possessing and transporting marijuana for sale, Frye said. He was booked into juvenile hall and released to his parents, Frye said.
The other teen, who attended Casa Grande High School until recently transferring to an alternative school, was cited with suspected possession of marijuana for sale and released to his parents, Frye said.
Police suspect the driver was selling marijuana to other students.
