Petaluma woman hurt in crash with wrong-way driver on Highway 101

<p>A Petaluma woman was injured early Tuesday in a collision with a wrong-way driver on Highway 101 near the Redwood Sanitary Landfill, CHP officials said.</p><p>Janice Morante, 58, suffered moderate injuries in the crash, reported at 4:06 a.m., officials said.</p><p>Wrong-way driver Champin Chen, 30, of San Diego suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving, the CHP said.</p><p>Morante was heading north in a 2004 Nissan in the fast lane of the highway Chen approached in a 2008 Mazda, also in the fast lane but heading the wrong way, according to the CHP.</p><p>Both drivers tried to swerve to miss each other, but the cars crashed, hitting the front passenger-sides and causing major damage to both cars.</p><p>Chen's Mazda ended up on the shoulder, partially blocking the slow lane. Morante's Nissan landed in the grassy center divider, crashing into a guard rail.</p><p>Morante and Chen were both taken to Marin General Hospital to be treated for their injuries, CHP officials said.</p><p>No more details were immediately available.</p>
