Francis and Vivian Hauck

<p>Francis, known as Fran, and Vivian (Emmil) Hauck celebrated their 50th anniversary with their children and their spouses; and their five grandchildren. The family relaxed and spent a memorable time together on a cruise from Tampa, Fla., to Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel.</p><p>The couple met through a mutual friend, and their first date was to a drive-in movie. Although Vivian laughingly referred to their first date as a “total flop,” their relationship took a complete about face and within six months they were married. On Oct.</p><p>21, 1962, they became husband and wife at St. Mary's Catholic Church in South Heart, N.D.</p><p>They lived in Dickinson, N.D. for 20 years before moving to Rohnert Park in 1980.</p><p>Vivian is a retired Kaiser Permanente employee; Fran owned and operated his own business, known as Construction Management Services.</p><p>According to Vivian, he knew the construction business “inside out.”</p><p>Fran has loved working with wood all his life. He is so talented that the many projects he has created are keepers for those lucky enough to receive them. Fran and Vivian both love to play golf. Other interests are painting, drawing, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.</p><p>They've enjoyed extensive travel including motor home trips throughout the U.S.; visits from Bermuda to Tahiti and most of the Caribbean Islands; and a journey to Prague, followed by a Danube River cruise through Germany, Austria and Budapest.</p><p>Their family members include: daughter, Wendi Hoxsie, and her husband, Brian, of Rohnert Park; son, Jason, and his wife, Carolyn, of Woodstock, Ga. and the Grand Cayman Islands; daughter Dee Ann Sayban, and her husband, Eric, of Sarasota, Fla.; and daughter, Gail Hauck, and Bob Young of Santa Rosa.</p><p>Their advice for a long and happy marriage is to have endurance, talk and listen to each other, tell each other your feelings and be honest.</p>
