A Lake County teen suffered serious injuries in December when he was hit by a man in what Lakeport police are calling an unprovoked attack and now a suspect is in custody for the alleged assault.
Joshua Ray McLeod, 34, was arrested Wednesday morning.
He is suspected of striking the teen on Dec. 27, at about 11:20 p.m.
The victim and others were walking to their car on Armstrong Street when they crossed paths with the suspect and another man, reported Lakeport police Lt. Jason Ferguson.
“For no apparent reason he struck this juvenile,” Ferguson said.
The Lakeport teen, whose name or age wasn't provided by police, allegedly was hit once.
He was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital and then transferred to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital due to serious injuries. The teen no longer is hospitalized, Ferguson said.
Following an investigation a felony arrest warrant was issued for McLeod for suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury.
Lakeport police and Lake County sheriff's deputies arrested him just before 8 a.m. Wednesday in Lakeport.
He was taken to the Lake County Jail. Bail was set at $90,000.
Jail records indicated McLeod is a construction worker.
