Two men suspected of robbing an Allied Cash Advance store in Clearlake on Tuesday are at large and considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The robbery took place about 1:45 p.m. in the Burns Valley Mall on Olympic Drive and lasted less than two minutes.
Witnesses said the men entered the store, brandished what was possibly a semi-automatic handgun and ordered three employees and a lone customer to the ground, Clearlake Police Sgt. R.N. Joseph said in a statement. They took an undisclosed amount of cash from a register and fled on foot.
Police later identified a white, two-door Toyota Solara with gold-colored letters on its rear end as possibly being the vehicle the suspects continued their escape in, Joseph said. It was last seen traveling toward Highway 53 at a high rate of speed.
The suspects were said to be black, both wearing black clothing and hooded sweatshirts. One was estimated to be about 6-foot-8 and skinny. The other was heavyset, Joseph said.
