Sonoma County sheriff's officials Monday were still searching for two males who stabbed a boy riding a bicycle over the weekend.
The 16-year-old boy was recovering Monday from his injuries, Lt. Dennis O'Leary said.
The teen was assaulted at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday as he rode his bicycle on Hughes Avenue in Santa Rosa's Roseland neighborhood.
Two males of unknown age confronted the boy, claimed they were just released from prison and asked him if he wanted to fight, O'Leary said. The also asked the boy if he belonged to a gang, he said.
"The victim said he didn't want to fight with them," O'Leary said.
The males assaulted the boy and stabbed him, he said.
They left in what looked like a black Jeep.
Anyone with information about the case can call the sheriff's violent crimes unit at 565-2185.
