BERKELEY — Police say an 8-year-old girl has been struck by an arrow while visiting a science center at the University of California, Berkeley.
UC Berkeley Police Capt. Steve Roderick tells the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/YGgnP8 ) that the arrow hit the girl in her thigh while she was sitting on a life-sized model of a fin whale outside the Lawrence Hall of Science late Tuesday morning.
Authorities say the girl was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries as the arrow was still lodged in her leg.
Roderick said the arrow does not appear to be a toy as police were checking the area.
He also said it's not immediately known whether the girl was stuck by accident or not as the incident doesn't appear to be related to any activities at the center.
