Falk and Elaine "Lenny" (Smith) Dressing celebrated their 50th anniversary with a weeklong family vacation at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. With the exception of grandson Brandon LeBoy, their entire immediate family attended including: daughter, Debbie LeBoy, her spouse, Michael, and their son, Joshua, of Rohnert Park; daughter, Sue Dressing, and her spouse, Brenda Hays, of Santa Rosa; and Falk's sister, Stephanie Dressing, of Menlo Park. After much consideration, Disney World was decided upon as the perfect destination because the whole family loves Disney. The family treated the entire week as one long celebration of Falk and Lenny's Golden Anniversary. They ate at Epcot Center in a different country every night and for their anniversary dinner, went to the Hollywood Brown Derby at MGM Studios, considered one of the finest restaurants at the resort.
Falk was born in Duisburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States when he was 5. Lenny was born and raised in Chicago. The couple met at a close friend's home in 1962. They dined on pizza and Pepsi at a Chicago pizzeria on their first date. Falk served in the Navy, stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. After the service, he returned to California, where his family had been living. For a while, they did long-distance dating, but eventually, Lenny moved to California as well, to be closer to Falk and to get to know his family. After dating for eleven months, they were married on Jan. 12, 1963, at The Presidio, Chapel of Our Lady in San Francisco.
Falk worked as a mail carrier in San Francisco from 1964-1969, San Anselmo from 1969-1974 and Santa Rosa from 1974 until his retirement in 1997. Lenny was a stay-at-home mom while her daughters were young, and after they were older, she went to work at the Santa Rosa Junior College Bookstore. She worked part-time from 1972-1976, then full-time from 1986 until her retirement in 2001. They moved to Rohnert Park in 1972, where they still reside today.
Lenny is interested in genealogy, painting, crocheting and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. In addition to enjoying bowling, Falk is considered the family historian. He takes photos and videos at all family events, then chronicles them by making DVD movies. He also is a handyman who does maintenance around the house. They did volunteer work in Zimbabwe at the Chidamoyo Christian Hospital through an affiliation with their church, Sebastopol Christian.
In 2011, they attended Falk's family reunion in the Black Forest, Germany. They also have traveled to Israel, Africa, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Austria, Italy, Belgium and Hawaii.
Their attribute their long and happy marriage to having common interests, including love of travel and sports. They love to laugh together and share a strong commitment to each other and their family. They are fortunate to have many close friends, a loving family and a supportive church family.
