George and Yvonne (Falk) Drady celebrated their 60th anniversary with a romantic trip to Yosemite National Park, where they stayed at the historic Ahwahnee Hotel.
They met in July 1952 at Clear Lake, where Yvonne was vacationing with her family and George with a group of his friends. They spent the afternoon boating, and their first date was dinner at a local resort that evening.
After going together for five months, they were married at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cathedral in Reno on Dec. 5, 1952. They resided in San Francisco until 1954, when they moved to Larkspur, where they settled in and started their family. They currently live in Santa Rosa, where they have lived since 1964.
George worked as a self-employed general contractor for 40 years and Yvonne worked as a bookkeeper for the family owned business.
In 1985, George was the president for the North Coast Builders Exchange. They are both members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
They love to travel, most recently to Sweden and Italy in September 2011. They do a lot of camping and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Family members include: daughter, Linda Kaczmar, and her husband, Keith, of South Lake Tahoe; son, Don, and his wife, Lynda, of Santa Rosa; daughter, Barbara Dottellis, and her husband, Jimmy, of Dayton, Nev.; and son, Rich, and his wife, Julie, of Santa Rosa. They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with a third on the way.
George's advice for a long and happy marriage is that falling in love is the easy part, but staying best friends is important. Keep a good attitude, don't let things get you down and always respect each other's wishes.
