A Ukiah man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of rape, sodomy and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, the Ukiah Police Department said in a news release.
A 36 year-old Ukiah woman had reported that she met an acquaintance, Fernando Benitez Mada Sr., 52, to do some work together on his RV Monday evening. While they were working, Mada reportedly physically restrained her and forced her to have sex with him against her will, police said.
Detectives spent more than 80 hours investigating the case, and determined that Mada had recently been released from custody for a prior charge of possession of methamphetamine, and was awaiting further court proceedings.
The investigation is continuing, and Mada remains in custody at the Mendocino County Jail with bail set at $150,000, detectives said.
