A big rig crash on I-80 took the lives of two Petaluma residents Thursday, CBS Sacramento is reporting.

Phang Phetsomphou, 76, and his wife Bouaket Phetsompou, 74, from Petaluma were driving a BMW sedan near Old Davis Road in Davis at around 10:35 a.m. when a big rig hit them, according to CBS Sacramento.

They were killed in the accident.

The driver of the big rig told the CHP that he had choked on food and passed out. His truck hit two cars before driving through the center divide on the highway and into oncoming traffic.
