A driver suffered fatal injuries early Saturday morning in a solo-vehicle crash off Bennett Valley Road southeast of Santa Rosa. Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The driver’s name was not released pending notification of family members. A passenger in the Dodge Ram pickup, Michael Dibernardo, 25, of Rohnert Park, suffered minor injuries.

The 2:50 a.m. crash occurred east of Carrithers Road. The pickup was headed west on Bennett Valley Road when it veered across the roadway, spun clockwise, and crashed into a tree on the driver’s side, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, the CHP reported.
