Mustangs win fourth CMC golf championship

The St. Vincent High School golf team has won its fourth straight Coastal Mountain Conference championship.

St. Vincent wrapped up its championship with an impressive 304-350 win over its closest rival, Middletown, in a match played at the Windsor Golf Club. It was St. Vincent biggest winning margin of the season.

Evan Knight led St. Vincent with a 72, with Joey Wertz shooing a 75, Sean Healy a 78 and Jack Hood a 79. Daniel Eagle led Middletown with an 84. St. Helena also participated in the match, and was led by Jeremy Melka with an 83.

Earlier in their closes match of the season, the Mustangs prevailed over Middletown, 306-309, in a match played at the Adams Springs Golf Club.

Knight led St. Vincent with a 71, followed by Wertz with a 74, Hood with an 80 and Alex Gaham with an 81. For Middletown, Eagle had a 75 and Chasen Tom and Tony Tacla each shot a 76.

St. Vincent will compete in the North Coast Section Tournament, Monday May 6 at Rooster Run.
