A Rohnert Park man was arrested Monday on suspicion of shooting at an ex-girlfriend's Windsor home, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
Christopher Gornowicz, 22, was being held on $100,000 bail at the Sonoma County Jail and was expected to be charged at 1:30 p.m. today with shooting at an inhabited dwelling, according to sheriff's records.
Gornowicz is suspected of firing four shots at the woman's home on the 11000-block of Old Redwood Highway, Lt. Steve Brown said. The woman told deputies she heard a vehicle slow down in front of her house, Brown said.
Then she heard gunfire. A witness saw a black car, like a Honda Civic, speeding south on Old Redwood Highway, Brown said.
The four shots hit a vehicle in the driveway.
The woman suspected the shooter was Gornowicz, and deputies found him at a Tapadera Drive home in Santa Rosa, Brown said.
Deputies found a .223-caliber assault-style rifle with Gornowicz in the home as well as two spent shell casings in the front passenger seat and driver's floorboard of his car, which matched the witness description, Brown said.
Two deputies who responded to the initial report of the shooting rear-ended another driver on their way from Rohnert Park to Windsor, Brown said. The patrol car struck a Toyota pickup on northbound Highway 101 near Golf Course Drive exit, Brown said.
The pickup's driver complained of pain but did not require medical attention, Brown said. The deputies were uninjured and the patrol car sustained major damage.
