Two Santa Rosa residents face charges in connection with a drug bust conducted Thursday by the Santa Rosa Police Department Narcotic Investigations Team detectives and SWAT members.
Bernie Lee Verrett, 52, and Calah Terese Bigon, 30, were arrested Thursday after detectives seized about 85 marijuana plants growing behind a Montgomery Drive home. Additional evidence of the manufacture of concentrated cannabis also was recovered, according to police.
Detectives cut down about 85 three- and four-foot plants growing in the backyard of the home that is located between Hahman Drive and Franquette Avenue. The plants were concealed in part by trees and bushes.
Three adult males, two adult females and three children were at the residence when the search warrant was served at about 7 a.m. A fourth man was stopped about a block away after he left the house just prior to the investigators' arrival.
Verrett was arrested on suspicion of manufacture of a controlled substance, cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and violation of probation. Bigon was arrested on two warrants.
The others at the home were not arrested.
