The Petaluma United girls under-11 team, coached by Andrew Jones, won the San Rafael Premiere Challenge Championship last weekend.

in the preliminary round, United played three Central Marin teams, winning 4-3 and 3-0. The other preliminary game was a hard-fought 1-1 tie against Central Marin White Magic. The defense was anchored by Lucie Ellis, Adeline Frantz, Leila Bacon and Kailey Kroyer. First-year goalie Anika Belash stepped up and made key saves throughout the tournament. Striker Ashley Casper led the team with six goals in the preliminary round.

The championship game was a team effort, with United defeating the White Magic, 4-2. Ellis was particularly strong, continuously denying any offensive rush by the White Magic. Four different girls scored goals, starting with winger Lauren Beels, one timing a corner kick in the back of the net in the opening minutes of the game. Winger Katherine Dedrickson, who consistently applied offensive pressure throughout the weekend, scored midway through the first half. Casper and mid fielder Sienna Barry sealed the win with goals in the second half.
