St. Helena’s 16-14 loss to Healdsburg has allowed St. Vincent to vault to No. 2 in the Press Democrat’s small school football rankings. The Mustangs, winners of their first two games, are ranked below Middletown, a 21-14 winner over powerhouse Salesian in its opener last week.

St. Helena (1-1) is No. 3, Calistoga (2-0) No. 4 and Tomales (1-1), coming off a 52-6 rout of Elsie Allen from the Sonoma County League, No. 5.

Casa Grande (2-0) coming off a tough 12-7 road win over Heritage, is ranked No. 3 among the large schols. Cardinal Newman (2-0) from the North Bay League and Analy (2-0) from the Sonoma County League are one-two.
