Strong winds drove a 3-acre brush fire that crossed over Highway 101 in Penngrove on Tuesday afternoon.
A second alarm was called and additional firefighting resources were arriving at 2:30 p.m., a Redcom dispatcher said.
The blaze was reported by multiple callers at 1:52 p.m. between the 200 block of Orchard Lane and the freeway.
The wind contributed to a spot fire that broke out on the west side of the freeway, the dispatcher said.
One structure was threatened but none was involved in the fire, he said.
The fire was under control by 3:20 p.m. and burned about 3 acres of grass. Fire officials on scene said that mowed fields adjacent to the blaze helped limit its spread.
Orchard Lane, a dead end road, was closed to traffic during firefighting efforts.
